The project entitled \u201cInnovative actions for the digital promotion and outreach of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina\u201d. <\/strong>It is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the Priority Axis “Development of mechanisms to support entrepreneurship” of the Operational Program \u201cCompetitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation\u201d and from national resources of the Public Investment Program. The Funding body is the Ministry of Development and Investments. The project concerns the utilization of digital media and the use of emerging technologies for the preservation, promotion, and media dissemination of the cultural repository of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina.<\/p>\n

Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n

More specifically, in the context of the project, the following work packages were implemented:<\/p>\n

  • Digitization\n
      \n
    • 20 Holy Churches<\/li>\n
    • 20 church murals<\/li>\n
    • 200 ecclestiastical icons<\/li>\n
    • 30 sacred vessels<\/li>\n
    • 50 books<\/li>\n
    • 5 gold-embroidered vestments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Documentation of all digitized records based on international standards<\/li>\n
    • Website design and development for the online promotion of the project, as well as the cultural resources under the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina. In this way, the particular and multifaceted character of the organization is highlighted more, as its innovative actions and work include a wide range of activities<\/li>\n
    • Documentation and collection management system for the Ecclesiastical Collection of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina. In the context of this work package, the open-source software Collective Access was installed and configured. The software was customized responding to the diverse elements that constitute the collection such as monuments, objects, and archival material<\/li>\n
    • Design and development of the online collection of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina<\/li>\n
    • Interactive map with different layers of information<\/li>\n
    • Interactive timeline allowing the user to see the Holy churches history into chronological order starting with the most ancient all the way to the current period. The application is an alternative narrative tour and the visitor has the possibility to see more information, such as multimedia material, but also to discover associations with the movable monuments.<\/li>\n
    • Virtual Tour in 20 Holy Temples and the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art of Sklivani<\/li>\n
    • Design and implementation of 3 storytelling productions which showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina<\/li>\n
    • Digital tour guide for smart mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) enabling interaction with the visitor beyond the physical boundaries of the visited space. The application makes use of a wide range of multimedia material creating for the visitors an engaging experience. The application connects important churches and monasteries as well as the Center for the Protection and Promotion of the History and Art of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina. The route displays all the information about the points of interest in a simple, understandable, and attractive way, enhancing physical and digital accessibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n
